First thing’s first – I’ve had page 23 ready for several moths, and page 24 was inked but never scanned.  The original plan was to build up a buffer of about 20 pages before doing anything with them, but clearly that hasn’t happened.  I’m uploading page 23 now and will get page 24 done ASAP, partially because I just want it done and partially to establish a Before And After for myself regarding the drawing class I took last semester.

Two weeks ago, I noticed that my site had been hacked.  I reported this to my web host, which had changed management recently, and was told that they were going to act on it.

I have not heard from them since.

As a result of this, two things have happened.  First, I have considered legal action against InstantFreeSite.com and asked that my account be cancelled.  Second, I have changed web hosts.  I am currently with nearlyfreespeech.net, which, while pricier and less user-friendly, is much more competent.

It’ll still take me a while to get the site running at full capacity again, but for now it’s in a state of ugly-but-functional.

OK, so remember when I said I’d have 2 pages up this week?  Well, put simply, things got REALLY screwed up on my end and that became completely impossible.  Most of it’s my fault.  Good news is, I’m out on spring break, which should give me plenty of time to build up a reasonable buffer.  Maybe third time’s a charm?

…yeah, I didn’t think so either.  I’m taking a hiatus to focus on school work for the time being.  Remus will return on the 23rd as soon as I kick a particularly nasty virus and can get to a scanner coincident with the Rapture at the end of May, possibly with an improved schedule as soon as possible.

In other news, I tried lettering this one with a demo of Illustrator instead of Inkscape, which is what I usually use. I can’t believe I’m saying this, but despite the headaches, bugs, and frequent crashes, I think I actually prefer Inkscape.  I’ll probably make the switch to illustrator at some point, but for the forseeable future I’m going back to the open-source well.

In other news, I really need to get myself a decent webmaster.  The guy I have now is completely incompetent and irresponsible, and – oh wait, I am the guy I have now.

I highly recommend The Secret World Of Arrietty, Studio Ghibli’s latest piece.  While it plays things a bit more safely than Ghibli usually does, it’s understandable coming from a first-time director with a lot to live up to, and the film is still extremely well done.

Like just about everyone else, I’m ticked about Viz clamping down on scan sites.  As a rule, I don’t support piracy, but Viz seems to have chosen to make it the only viable option.  I will subscribe to their pay service as soon as they approach the same level of speed and quality I expect from people who work for free.

That’s it for now.  I think I’ll keep doing these, if only so I have something to actually put on the blog page.
