I think it’s time for some acknowledgements. First, I’d like to thank my fellow creators who have been at this a lot longer than me and have been a source of inspiration for this idea, particularly the ones whose comics are listed in the sidebar. On a more personal note, I’d also like to thank Alex, Andrew, Ben, Claire, Danny, Emma, Erik, Evan, Talia, Will, and Zach for their help with my writing and art. I owe all of you big time.
To anybody offended by this page, I extend my apologies and an explanation. I decided to start the story this way for two reasons. First, I wanted to get the reader’s attention. Second, I wanted to draw a parallel between the fanatic depicted on this page and the terrorists that he, and those like him, believe they are defending America from. The theme of violence in the name of protection will come up quite often in later pages, and I wanted to use an extreme example in the beginning to help highlight that theme. I’m also hoping to seriously question existing ideas about what is and isn’t valid cause for revolution, and where the line between legitimate resistance and political terrorism falls. Due to the subject matter of the story, which can be found under the “about” section, I feel that it’s safe to assume that I am going to cause some offense. Hopefully, I’ll also provoke some thought.
Now that that’s out of the way, welcome to Remus! I’ve put a lot of work in to this series, and I hope you guys enjoy what I’ve got in store. See you at the next update!
